Places I've Lived
I have come to Japan from the United States. However, the question, "Where are you from?" is very difficult for me to answer, because the answer to that question is very long. Usually, people want a more specific answer than just "the United States," so I have to try my best to make a long story short.
Connecticut

I was born in Putnam, Connecticut, located on the east coast. I lived in the city of Danielson until the age of 10, when my father was transferred. My father works for the company Frito Lay, and he was offered a job in Allen Park, Michigan.

Connecticut facts: The state capitol is Hartford, and another large city, New Haven, is where Yale University is located.
Michigan

Though moving was difficult, I came to like living in Michigan. Even though my family was very far away, I was still able to see them on long holidays, like Thanksgiving, Easter and of course, Christmas. I went to junior and senior high school there, and graduated from Airport Senior High school in the year 2001.
Then it was time for college.

Michigan state facts: The state capitol is Lansing, and another, more well known city, is Detroit. It is known as the Motor City, and is the oldest city in the midwest.
Ohio

After graduating from senior high school, I had to think about which college to go to. I chose to go to a small college in Springfield, Ohio, called Wittenberg University. I spent the next for years there, and it became my home.

Ohio state facts: The capitol of Ohio is Columbus, where Ohio State University is located. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is located in Cleveland, another of Ohio's great cities.
Tennessee

However, in December of 2004, my father was transferred again, this time to Flintville, Tennessee. Therefore, after graduating from college, I did not return to Michigan as I expected, but moved in with my parents in their new home in Tennessee.

Tennessee state facts: The capitol of Tennessee is Nashville, the city of country music. The state song, the Tennessee Waltz is really famous here in Japan.
Japan

Now, I am living in Kyotanabe city, in Kyoto, Japan. I may not be from there originally, but I have been so many places now, that my home is where I make it. I am sure you can now understand why the question, "Where are you from?" is so very difficult for me. I am from all of these places, and they have all, at one time in my life, been my home.

Japan facts: The capitol city of Japan is Tokyo, but there are many famous cities here, known world round. Kyoto especially is very famous, for the gion, which houses the geisha. The weirdest thing I have seen here so far, was a geisha in a business suit!
