All About Me

My name is Gordon McLean. I am 27 years old and I am from Edinburgh in Scotland. I have 1 brother. His name is Colin, he is 24 years old and he sings for a living. My mother's name is Brenda and my father's name is Thomas.

I have lived in Edinburgh for most of my life except for when I went to university in Dundee, which is 1 hour north of Edinburgh by car.

I studied Community Education for 4 years and I then worked for 3 years as a Community Education Worker in West Lothian (40 minutes by car from Edinburgh.)

I really enjoy working with children, young people and adults and I hope to learn from my time in Japan and to continue doing this as a career when I finish the JET programme.

Hobbies

My favourite hobbies are playing badminton, listening to music, hill walking and eating out. I also enjoy travelling and have been to a few places in the past 5 years. I have visited Rome (Italy), Barcelona and Madrid (Spain), Munich, Berlin and Cologne (Germany), Stockholm (Sweden) and Japan. In Japan, I visited Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Matsuyama, Ehime, Hiroshima, Tokyo, Gunma, Sendai and Miyagi.

This is Nathan Robertson. He is the best badminton player in the U.K. at the moment and one of the best in the world. ĦĦHe won a silver medal in the Olypmpic Games in Athens with Gail Emms. I used to watch him when I was younger as he is the same age as me and we sometimes played in the same tournaments. I played him once but he beat me very easily.

Music

I like many Scottish Bands, such as, Belle and Sebastian, Primal Scream, Teenage Fanclub, BMX Bandits and Franz Ferdinand. You may have heard of Scottish bands and artists such as Travis, Proclaimers, Bay City Rollers, Eddi Reader, Sheena Easton and AnnieLennox I also like non Scottish artists such as David Bowie, Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Air and the Stone Roses.

This is Belle and Sebastian. They are my favourite band and I own every cd that they have released. The band come from Glasgow and I have seen them in concert many times.

Hill Walking

This is part of the Cairngorms and is a lovely area with many nice places to walk. I enjoy walking in the north of Scotland and I plan to do alot more when I return to Scotland.
I would really like to climb Fuji-san when I am in Japan. I would also like to find many other nice places in Japan to walk and climb.
