Japan

There are many things about Japan that I have enjoyed so far. There are so many beautiful places to visit and I also really enjoy the food. I find Japanese people very friendly and kind. I just wish that I could speak more Japanese. I hope that by this time next year that I can speak some Japanese.

I really like sashimi as I like fish and would eat it every day if I could. You can not buy much sashimi in Scotland and when you do it is expensive,
Okonomiyaki restaurants are my favourite in Japan. I eat a lot of okonomiyaki and have been to restaurants in Hiroshima, Kyotanabe City and Osaka. I usually have seafood okonomiyaki and octopus balls.

My favourite past-times in Japan apart from eating are visiting onsens and shopping. I particulary like buying cd's in Tower Records as the shops are so big. I also like bonsai trees and used to have some in Scotland. I hope to buy one in Japan very soon.

My favourite sites that I have visited in Japan are:

I really liked Kinkakuji. I thought the gardens were very beautiful. I was very pleased when I found out I was coming to Kyotanabe as I can visit Kinkakuji often.
I had already heard of Himeji-jo before I came to Japan as it is famous for being in a James Bond movie. I thought the castle was very big and interesting.
I was only able to visit Miyajima for a few hours but thought the island was amazing. The shrine was very impressive and I found the island great for walking around. The next time that I go I will spend more time and climb to the top of the mountain.
Shibuya is great. I couldn't believe how many people there were. I loved walking around and watching all the people. I don't think I would like to live near there though as it is too crowded.

I hope to visit many more places in Japan in the coming year.
