Hello, my name is Farheen Rawji. I come
from Vancouver, Canada. I came to Japan
on July 29th 1996 and I have been in Tanabe
since August 6th. In Canada, I live with
my family in a big house on a mountain.
There are five people in my family: my mother,
my father, and two younger brothers. I call
my mother "mama" and I call my father "papa".
My first brother's name is Ghalib. He is
twenty one years old. My other brother's
name is Amman. He is sixteen years old. In
Vancouver, I was a university student at
the University of British Columbia. We call
it UBC. I studied biochemistry, mathematics
and physics at UBC. When I return to Vancouver,
I will complete my Master's degree in Electrical
Engineering. I like to study, but I also
like to play sports. My favorite sport is
skiing during the winter. Every winter,
we go to Whistler and we also go to Cypress
mountain to ski. I am not as good as my
brothers, so I cannot ski on the difficult
slopes. I hope to go skiing in Japan as
well. During the summer, I like to play
squash. Squash is a game like tennis, but
we play it in a room with both players on
the same side of the court. Also, we use
a small, black rubber ball to play. Everyday,
I also like to go running on my own. I run
about five kilometers everyday, even when
it is raining! In Japan, I hope to meet many
new friends and to learn many new things.
I want to learn Judo, Ikebana, the traditional
tea ceremony and many other things. I would
also like to travel around Japan and learn
about the culture and the people. Right
now, I am trying very hard to learn the language,
but Kanji is very difficult to learn!!
